"Therapeutic grade essential oils are some of the oldest and most powerful therapeutic agents known. Most people today are unaware that they have an impressive, multimillennium history of healing and anointing throughout the ancient world. Dozens of essential oils are cited in the Judeo-Christian religious texts and records show they were used to treat every ailment known to man at that time. Frankincense, myrrh, lotus, cedarwood, and sandalwood oils were widely used. Others oils, like cinnamon, clove, and lemon were highly valued as antiseptics hundreds of years before the development of today's synthetic medicines." -Essential Oils Desk Reference
One of the factors that determines the purity of an essential oil is its chemical constituents. These constituents can be affected by a vast number of variables.
Anyone venturing into the world of therapy using essential oils must use the purest quality of oils available. Inferior quality or adulterated oils will most likely not produce therapeutic effects. That is why it is important to check out the grower, the distiller, and the distributor.
As Dexter Black explains:
An update - I was reading someone's blog tonight. It said they order 90% of their oils now from "Snow Lotus" and about 10% from Young Living. Well, of course this peaked my interest, myself being a Young Living Distributor.
It seems price was the factor. So, you got it...I went and looked at Snow Lotus site. Over all a very nice site, and seems the person using the oils in the blog have had good results. Then I found the information that I am always looking for when it comes to essential oils under the caution heading. Here it is: "Essential oils are intended for environmental and topical use only. Never take single or blended essential oils internally."
Really!? You mean I'm not suppose of make Peppermint tea from my Essential Oil? You mean I should not of used my Lavender Essential Oil in cooking and Oregano Essential Oil?
Yeah, I can jest, because Young Living's Oils CAN be ingested! Why? Again, it's all in what is (or isn't) in the oil.
When you deal with 100% pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil, you CAN take it orally in most cases. Granted there are some oils you would not want to take orally, but the ones designed to, you certainly can.
I decided to use the name of the website "Snow Lotus" in this posting since the blog writer did mention it along with the Young Living site.
So there you have it folks. If you want THE BEST and SAFEST Essential Oils, there's none better than Young Living Essential Oils.
