A Good Reason to Go Organic

A recent study published in Diabetes Care found a strong relationship between Type II diabetes and the body burden of six pollutants:
  • a PCB: hexachlorobiphenyl
  • 2 dioxins: heptadioxin and OCDdioxin
  • 2 pesticides: oxychlordane and trans-nonachlor, and
  • a pesticide metabolite: DDE, a metabolite of DDT
These contaminants were detectable in more than 80 percent of the study participants. Those in the highest-exposure category were almost 38 times more likely to have diabetes than those in the lowest exposure category.

The average American takes in nearly a gallon of pesticides per year by eating conventionally grown fruits and vegetables.

By choosing organic, you can reduce your risk of diabetes (and many other chronic illnesses).

Something to think about....

WOW! Does this partially explain the rise in diabetes in children?

Bea and Faye, what do you recommend for cleansing the body of toxins already ingested? It seems to me, there is a level of toxicity in most people that could eventually lead to illness.

Thanks much for all this good information.

Hi Connie,

Thanks for visiting "The Crossing."

Absolutely, this is one of the major causes for most any illness one can name.

The human body is a well designed machine, with just a little effort of giving it the proper attention to work with it can cleanse and repair on its own.

If one feels the need to do a major cleansing, then some careful thought needs to go into the process.

There is no one size fits all in this department.

PM me and I'll share my choice with you as to a starting place.

Faye may have a different approach, and she is very knowledgable in this area.

Hi Connie,

Thanks for visiting "The Crossing".

We can begin to conclude that future research is going to show how the toxic chemicals in the food, air, water, and medicines we consume are combining to destroy our health.

"Women who reported mixing and applying agricultural pesticides during early pregnancy have a two times higher risk of developing gestational diabetes during the pregnancy. The strong association between first trimester pesticide exposure and gestational diabetes mellitus suggests that pesticide exposures may affect glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. Specifically, four herbicides (2,4,5-T; 2,4,5-TP; atrazine; or butylate) and three insecticides (diazinon, phorate, or carbofuran) were associated with reporting gestational diabetes. Women who reported agricultural pesticide exposure (mixing or applying pesticides to crops or repairing pesticide application equipment) during pregnancy were more than twice as likely to report GDM as compared to women reporting no pesticide use in pregnancy."

While you may have a genetic tendency to diabetes, the phenotype is your actual expression. If you live a live food lifestyle, you will not express diabetes. Live food forces out every level of toxins.

As Bea said, we are all different so each cleansing program needs to be individualized.

My choice is an organic weed and feed approach that can be maintained over a lifetime. More later...

Thanks much for your interest.

Dr. Royal Lee predicted in the 1950s that we were headed for a diabetic epidemic, and that in time, everybody would become diabetic because of fructose corn syrup in the diet. This synthetic filler sweetener is not a food, but now it is in almost all packaged foods. The pancreas is bypassed with fructose corn syrup, and before long it shuts down. There is no mystery about the diabetic epidemic—and there is no doubt that the commercial food creators know the chemistry of fructose corn syrup.

I think prevention is the key.
